What’s In My Bag: Casey’s Winter Essentials

CASEYS EVERYDAY BAG

My bag is all about practical necessities, especially during the colder months. In addition to an extensive selection of lip balms, warm gloves and cozy hat, these are the items I can’t leave home without.

Ouai Dry Shampoo Foam
I’m a huge fan of Jen Atkin and her brand, Ouai Haircare, is one of the most represented lines in my (overstocked) beauty collection. When they announced their new Dry Shampoo Foam, I immediately opened my Sephora app and placed an order. Two days later, I was in love. I’ve tried a range of dry shampoos over the years and this one beats them all; it not only erases oil and product build-up, but adds INSANE volume. I’m patiently waiting for the travel size version but until then, this has a permanent place in my purse for hat hair touch-ups.

NARS Velvet Lip Glide in Bound
This is the perfect product for anyone with dry lips who prefers matte finishes over a standard gloss. These are hydrating, longwearing and dry super-fast — the ideal combo! I love this neutral shade for both day and night.

Rose Quartz Corkcicle Canteen
Major alert: Hydration is essential. This stainless steel canteen keeps my water ice cold, whether I’m out running errands or posted up at my desk. Plus, it’s the perfect shade of blush pink.

Aveda Rosemary Mint Composition Oil
I can’t get enough of this calming oil! Dab a bit on your neck, wrists or temples for a quick fix when that midday headache hits.

Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides
My testy skin has gone from “oh, no…” to “yes, glow!” since I started adding 1-2 scoops of this into my morning smoothie. This powder offers a boost of collagen, which helps keep skin, hair and nails healthy — pretty great, right? I’m officially hooked and always make sure to carry extras for my coffee at the office. If I’m not a big enough celeb fan for you, Jennifer Aniston swears by it, too.

What are your winter must-haves?

In My Bag: Katelyn’s Diaper Bag

KKL_BABY BAG

My handbag du jour these days? A diaper bag … and a backpack, no less. Motherhood has changed me in countless ways, and in some respects, it’s hard not to think that my daughter has completely taken over my life (and my belongings). That said, I try to intersperse glimpses of myself amid the chaos that is her day-to-day necessities. Here is a VERY small sampling of what’s overflowing out of my diaper bag.

Fawn Design diaper bag
After seeing various bloggers sport this on my Instagram feed, I decided to go for it. It’s hands-down the chicest diaper bag I have found, and while I wish it was a little larger, the added cool factor the design has makes up for it.

Babyganics Hand Sanitizer
OK, hear me out: Even if you’re not a mom, you need this. Pre-baby, I used to carry around a hand sanitizer I likely picked up from a 7-11 that reeked so potently of alcohol that I’m not sure how I ever used it. This Babyganics version is foamy (no awful sticky feeling) and free of alcohol (no terrible smell). Its extra gentle, plant-based formula won’t dry out your hands. The best!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Larabar
I’m a serial snacker, and if I’ve got my daughter with me, it’s a toss-up as to whether or not I’ve personally had a solid meal in the last three hours. Larabars became a pantry staple while I was avoiding dairy and soy (they’re vegan and soy-free!), and now I can’t quit ‘em.

MAC lipstick in “Diva
I typically have about 10 lipsticks on me in my *normal* purse. Since the baby bag requires consolidation, I toss in one shade for an instant facelift when I’m on mom duty. Currently in rotation? A brooding Bordeaux from MAC.

Lamaze plush moose toy
My daughter loves a moose that we’ve named Matilda. This prized possession is saved for outings or car rides, and if I’m honest, is often snapped to a ring on the outside of my bag. #momlife

Baby Aquaphor
I’m an Aquaphor junkie, so it’s not surprise my daughter is being raised to live that life. From a diaper cream to dry skin and scrapes, we use this for any skin situation she has. Plus, mama can put it to her 1,000 uses, too!

Baby Gap love stripe pleat dress
An outfit change is just as essential as diapers. (For inquiring minds: My diaper bag is usually stuffed with Honest or Pampers Swaddlers.) This is sitting in my shopping cart, and I can’t wait to see C rock it.

ISABELLA EVERYDAY BAG

Every working girl on the go knows that it’s important to have your bag stocked with plenty of essentials. Whether it’s your favorite lipstick or a much-needed energy boost, you never know what the day will bring or where you’ll end up, so I’ve curated my bag with products that will keep me going all day long.

Honest Beauty  Fluid
No matter how busy I am, I always make sure that I’m protecting myself from the sun.

Gerard Cosmetics Hydra-Matte Liquid Lipstick in “Serenity”
This beauty blogger-approved liquid lipstick is amazing. I love the whole collection, but Serenity is a great neutral for everyday wear.

Vaseline Rosy Lips Tin
Nothing’s worse than having dry lips, so I keep a few of these adorable tins stashed away in my bags and on my desk!

Sun Potion Mucuna Pruriens Powder
Being a publicist results in lots of long days, so I keep my energy up with this magical mix.

Forever 21 Mirrored Aviator Sunglasses
Whether I’m hopping in a cab for a meeting or quickly darting out to grab lunch, a great pair of sunnies will tie your look together while keeping you covered.

In My Bag: Molly’s Summer Stash

MOLLY M_IN MY BAG

With Chicago summer in full force, I’ve found it essential to stock my favorite work bag with a few items to combat the inevitable heat while taking me from day-to-night. Below are my must-haves for conquering my commute, workday and beyond!

Nunzio Saviano Anti-Frizz Sheets
These single-packedanti-frizz sheets are amazing, and kick nasty summer frizz in the butt. Available in sets of 18, I always make sure to have a few in my bag for off-site meetings or after work drinks!

Beauty Counter Lip Sheer in “Twig”
My mom (who happens to be a bigger beauty aficionado than I am) introduced me to Beauty Counter, an amazing all-natural beauty line, and I’ve been loving their neutral Lip Sheers for a natural touch of color. I always have “Twig” on-hand for a quick touch up!

Rifle Paper Co. Pocket Notebooks
You never know when you’re going to be struck with a genius idea! I love to have a small notebook available if a creative pitch or additional to-do comes to mind while I’m away from my desk, and Rifle Paper Co. has always been my go-to for cute paper goods.

S’Well Water Bottle in Birchwood
With the weather being so hot, I’ve been really trying to drink tons of water during the day. I love the aesthetic of this S’Well water bottle, it goes everywhere with me!

Ray Ban “Original Aviator”
I am a sunglass fanatic, always switching between a few pairs. Lately I’ve been loving classic aviators to add a preppy and polished twist to my look.

In My Bag: Lauren’s Makeup Essentials

LAUREN B IN MY BAG

I’ll be the first to admit it, I’m a beauty junkie. When it comes to what I put on my skin I am very particular. With the exception of special occasions, I keep my makeup very minimal and as natural looking as possible and I (try) to keep my daily beauty routine to about fifteen minutes. Here are my current, everyday beauty essentials:

Trufora Day Serum 85
I fear aging like some people fear spiders, so the very first step in my morning beauty routine is applying this antioxidant-packed serum. It protects my skin from the harsh environmental factors that come with city life. I immediately follow with a sunscreen of at least SPF30.

Laura Mercier Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation
If you’re looking for a foundation with just the right amount of coverage, this is it. It leaves my skin feeling fresh and it completely evens out my skin tone.

Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Wheat
Fellow pale ladies rejoice – I’m about to share with you the best beauty hack EVER. When contouring first became a “thing” I was feeling pretty left out. I am just about as fair skinned as you can get, and the basic contouring kits on the market left me feeling like I had tiger stripes on my face. My secret to the perfect pale skinned contour? Bobbi Brown’s Eyeshadow in Wheat. Pop it under your cheek bones, along your jaw line and forehead and you’re left with a perfect, natural looking contour.

Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Color in Violet Orchid
A little blush can change your entire look and I never leave home without it. This color is perfect for spring and summer – it’s not as bright as it looks, I swear!

Blinc Ultrathin Liquid Eyeliner Pen
This eyeliner will change your life. I’m serious.

Kevyn Aucoin ‘The Volume’ Mascara
I was a devoted follower of the Chanel “Le Volume” cult for years before I found this mascara. I’m convinced I will use this Kevyn Aucoin mascara until the day I die. My lashes have never looked longer and fuller – I am beyond obsessed!

Glossier Boy Brow
I strive to have Cara Delevingne worthy brows. A girl can dream, right?

What are your current beauty obsessions?
