Social Media Creative Lead (Account Executive)
Salary Range: $65 – 75,000
Overview
The Social Media Creative Lead is the quality gate and day-to-day creative leader for Skirt PR’s social media team. This hybrid role combines a Creative Director’s eye for ideas and standards with an Account Executive’s command of timelines, briefs, and follow-through. The Creative Lead owns the work between the Assistant Account Executives who create content and the Director of Social Media, so that everything reaching the Director is brand-safe, on-brief, forward-thinking, and on time.
This role exists so the Director can focus on client communications and high-level strategy across all brands. The Creative Lead is the conduit between the two: translating the Director’s strategy and client expectations into clear direction for the assistants, and coaching the assistants to produce stronger first drafts.
The ideal candidate is a detail-obsessed creative who is just as comfortable running a content calendar as pitching a bold idea. They hold a high bar, give clear and kind feedback, and know the difference between content that is good enough and content that moves a brand forward.
Reports to: Director of Social Media. Manages: Assistant Account Executives and interns on the social team. Works with: PR, influencer, and creative teams across the agency. Limited travel may be required; attendance at client events and shoots is expected.
Estimated % of Time / Core Responsibilities
35% — Creative Review & Quality Control
• Review all social content (copy, visuals, video, captions, scheduling) before it reaches the Director, and return it with clear, actionable feedback.
• Check every deliverable against the brand brief, brand standards, tone of voice, and client-specific do’s and don’ts.
• Screen content for brand safety: claims, disclosures, regulatory and platform requirements, cultural sensitivity, and reputational risk.
• Push content to be forward-thinking: native to the platform, tied to current trends and culture, and distinct from what the brand posted last month.
• Build and maintain a pre-submission checklist so the assistants can self-review before work is passed up.
25% — Team Leadership, Coaching & Workflow
• Serve as the conduit between the Director and the Assistant Account Executives, relaying priorities, client feedback, and strategic direction in clear, specific terms.
• Set and enforce internal deadlines that build in review time, and track every deliverable through creation, review, approval, and scheduling.
• Flag at-risk deadlines early and step in to unblock work or redistribute workload.
• Coach and mentor assistants through regular feedback sessions, creative workshops, and side-by-side editing, with a focus on raising the quality of first drafts.
• Partner with the Director on performance feedback and development for the assistants.
20% — Creative Strategy & Ideation
• Lead brainstorms and develop out-of-the-box concepts, series, and campaign ideas for each brand’s channels.
• Translate the Director’s strategy and client objectives into content pillars, monthly themes, and creative direction for the team.
• Contribute creative ideas to new business proposals and campaign pitches.
• Stay ahead of platform updates, trends, and emerging formats, and bring them into the team’s work before clients ask.
10% — Community Management Strategy
• Develop and own community management strategy for each brand, including voice guidelines, response frameworks, escalation paths, and crisis protocols.
• Train and guide the assistants on day-to-day engagement, and spot-check community activity for tone, speed, and brand alignment.
• Use social listening and engagement data to identify opportunities, emerging issues, and audience insights.
• Recommend ways to grow and deepen each brand’s community, including UGC, creator engagement, and interactive formats.
10% — Client Support & Reporting
• Support the Director in client meetings and presentations as the creative and execution voice when needed, and handle day-to-day execution questions so the Director can stay focused on strategy.
• Review monthly and quarterly performance reports for accuracy and insight before they go to clients.
• Turn performance data into creative recommendations for the next content cycle.
Agency Growth & Culture (as needed)
• Demonstrate mastery of agency tools (Sprout Social, Google Suite, Later, and similar).
• Document processes, templates, and best practices so quality is consistent across brands.
• Help foster a proactive, collaborative, and accountable team culture.
Desired Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
• 5–7 years of agency or in-house social media experience, including at least 2 years reviewing others’ work or leading a team.
• Proven record of catching issues before they reach the client: brand-standard misses, brand-safety risks, factual or compliance errors, and weak creative.
• Strong creative instincts and a portfolio of social work that was fresh, platform-native, and tied to measurable results.
• Deep knowledge of Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, and emerging platforms, plus influencer and creator marketing best practices.
• Experience building community management strategy, including voice guidelines, escalation protocols, and crisis response.
• Exceptional organization and deadline management, with a track record of keeping multiple brands and contributors on schedule.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to give direct, constructive feedback and coach junior staff.
• Comfortable working between leadership and a junior team, and building trust with both.
• Experience with consumer brands in categories such as CPG, wellness, entertainment, or higher education is a plus.
• Proficiency with Sprout Social or similar scheduling and analytics tools, Google Suite, and creative tools such as Canva.
• A solutions-first, self-directed mindset with a passion for culture, creativity, and brand storytelling.

• Deliverables are completed and scheduled on time, with review built into every timeline.
• The Director spends less time editing and chasing content, and more time on client communications and strategy.
• Assistants’ first drafts improve measurably over the first six months.
• Each brand has a documented community management strategy, and engagement is on-voice, timely, and escalated correctly.
• The team regularly brings the Director and clients fresh ideas that go beyond the brief.
Performance & Growth
• Ongoing check-ins with the Director evaluate performance, leadership, content quality, and team results.
• Annual reviews determine eligibility for compensation adjustments and promotion within the social media department.
• Opportunities for advancement toward Associate Creative Director or Director of Social Media based on creative excellence, team development, and agency contribution.
