Nothing is more exciting than that first fall day where it is crisp enough to pull out my trusty black tights! I love the return to more dramatic, layered looks that comes with the advent of fall. This year in particular, I’m really excited that color is staying strong as the temperatures drop–black can be so depressing, and I think the contrast of stark brights against black opaque tights is so chic. As someone who loves everything girly and feminine, I’m thrilled that the polished look is reigning supreme this season and especially love the mod throwbacks and the fusion of masculinity contrasted with girliness-so up my alley!
Here are my top five must-haves for Fall 2011:
Sonia Rykiel Red Satin Skirt
An item I find myself turning to again and again when I get dressed in the morning is a boldly colored skirt, and this one is the perfect shade of red. Plus, it picks up on a big trend this season – the “midi” skirt, while still remaining classic and timeless.
Kate Spade Bow Bridge Kennedy Bag
For a girl who has a borderline obsessive relationship with bows and a love of everything Kate Spade, this bag is a dream. It’s feminine, but super structured, which gives it a sophisticated contrast. I’m having a moment with grey, too, so for me, this bag really has everything a girl could ask for and more.
Miu Miu Patent Leather Bow Mary Jane Pumps
Is the bow obsession apparent yet? In all seriousness though, nothing takes me more places in the fall/winter than a patent leather mary jane pump. Tights have the annoying tendency to cause shoes to slip off – but not if there’s a practical (and alright, girly) strap to keep them on! Plus, this color is fantastic and so versatile without being boring black.
DVF Capreena Mini Dress in Green
Another item that gets a lot of play in my closet? A flattering, brightly colored shift dress, and this DVF one is pure perfection. It picks up on the mod trend I’m planning on embracing this season, but will be worn for years to come – DVF pieces are ones to treasure!
J.Crew Double Cloth Envelope Coat
J.Crew (along with Kate Spade and DVF) is another that can do no wrong in my eyes. This cocoon coat in majestic purple looks incredibly expensive, and will pull together all of my fall looks in the chicest of ways!
