I usually listen to happy indie music. These particular songs are very upbeat and perfect for summer, which is why I’ve been listening to them a lot lately. I’m looking forward to seeing some of them next weekend at Lollapalooza!
Of Monsters and Men, Little Talks
My absolute favorite band of the moment right now is definitely Of Monsters and Men. This band from Iceland is taking over the indie music scene right now – and their hit song, Little Talks, has risen as a key player in their recent popularity, bringing them into the mainstream sphere here in the US. Needless to say, I’m TOTALLY pumped for their private performance for the Gilt City Lollapalooza Better Than Backstage Rooftop Pool Party at EnV in a few weeks.
Of Monsters and Men, From Finner
Yet another great song from Of Monsters and Men. I love every track on their new album, but From Finner is a great one that’s a little less known (well, for now). All of the songs have a similar sound – a galloping chorus and eclectic mix of instrumentals that comes together in a really cool way. Apparently, it’s said that the song’s lyrics, “We are far from home, but we’re so happy” describes the band’s current status and rise to fame: They’re currently touring North America through April 12.
Passion Pit, Take a Walk
Love this song – it’s so upbeat and fun for summer. Definitely makes you want to hop up and be active! If this song is any indication of the rest of Passion Pit’s news album, I’m really excited to hear what’d to come next.
The Lumineers, Hey Ho
I just discovered The Lumineers and have a new found obsession! They’re a great band with a handful of really solid tracks on the album – Hey Ho definitely rising above as one of their most popular hits, and one of my personal favorites.
The Lumineers, Stubborn Love
This song is a close second to Hey Ho, but a little bit more down tempo. Just can’t stop listening to this track – again, I definitely recommend checking out their album that just hit stores last month.
Two Door Cinema Club, Something Good Can Work
This is another happy, cheerful song that’s getting a lot of action on my iPod lately.
Grouplove, Tongue Tied
I guess I’m a sucker for pretty much the same genre of music, seeing as how the theme of all my favorite songs of the moment seems to be upbeat indie songs – and the same goes with Tongue Tied by Grouplove. From their new album “Never Trust A Happy Song”, this track is pretty much the quintessential sound of a fun, carefree, summer song!
